WMXbot setup guide
A chat bot, alerts, games and overlays for your Kick channel, all set up from your browser. This takes about 10 minutes.
Get started
Log in with Kick
Go to wmxbot.com and click Log in with Kick. You log in on Kick's own page; WMXbot never sees your password.
Kick asks you to allow a few things. WMXbot uses them to: read your chat and events (follows, subs, gifts, KICKs) so it can react, post in your chat, delete messages and give timeouts when your moderation rules say so (it never bans anyone on its own), and check whether you're live.
Make WMXBot a moderator
In your Kick chat, type /mod WMXBot. The bot talks in your chat as WMXBot; being a mod lets it work in followers-only, sub-only and slow mode.
Check it's working
Type !points in your chat. WMXBot should answer within a few seconds. Then open the Chat → Commands tab to add your own commands (like !discord).
Add overlays to OBS
Every overlay (alerts, chat box, goal bar, games...) has its own page on the dashboard with a live preview and an OBS link.
- On the overlay's page, click Copy next to its OBS link.
- In OBS: Sources → + → Browser, paste the link, and set the width and height shown on that page (most are 1920 × 1080).
- Tick Control audio via OBS for overlays with sound, so they show up in your audio mixer.
- Use the Test buttons on the dashboard: what you see in the preview also plays in OBS.
Keep overlay links private. Anyone with the link can see your overlay. If one leaks, make a new link on Alerts (OBS); the old ones stop working, so paste the new ones into OBS.
Dashboard tour
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Your stream at a glance, recent events, and Live control: a volume slider, Mute, Stop and Hold for each overlay (alerts, celebrations, stream bar, shoutouts, chat box, sound alerts, games) plus a master volume. OBS follows within a second. It works on the overlay itself, so it works whether or not you use OBS's own audio mixer too. |
| Chat | Moderation (caps, spam, links, banned words; timeouts only), Commands (your own !commands), Timers
(messages every so often), Welcomes & streaks, Shoutouts (!so name).
Skip the Bot account sub-tab: on the server this is already handled for you. |
| Alerts (OBS) | Follow, sub, gift and KICKs alerts with your own sounds, pictures and text. Upload files here:
pictures and GIFs (PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP), short videos (MP4, WEBM) and sounds or music (MP3, WAV, OGG), up to 25 MB each.
Music: copyrighted songs played on stream can still get your channel a DMCA strike on Kick, so use music you're allowed to play. |
| Widgets | Chat box, goal bar, emote combo, event labels, shoutout card, viewer counter, stream bar, celebrations, sound alerts (viewers play sounds with points) and a camera frame. Each has a preview and its own OBS link. |
| Desktop simulator | Lay out your overlays on a picture of your stream before you put them in OBS. |
| Loyalty | Points viewers earn for being active in chat, ranks, rewards they can redeem, and the leaderboard. |
| Games | Plinko, Roulette and Coin flip, played with points. Each has an OBS overlay and settings for odds and limits. |
| Engagement | Polls (free votes), predictions (viewers bet points on what happens; winners share the pot),
giveaways (viewers enter with !join, you draw a winner on stream) and text-to-speech (KICKs messages read out,
and !tts for points). One Engagement overlay shows polls, predictions and giveaways live. Text-to-speech plays through
the Sound alerts overlay, so add that one too. |
| Viewers | Who's been in your chat, their points and history. |
| Reports | A summary after each stream: chat activity, new followers, subs, top chatters. |
| Settings | The command sign (!), message speed limits, and other bot settings. |
What your viewers can type
These are the defaults; you can rename or switch off most of them on the dashboard.
For you and your mods: !poll Best game? | Valorant | Fortnite, !prediction Will I win? | Yes | No
then !prediction lock / !prediction win 1 / !prediction cancel, and !giveaway start 10 Prize
then !giveaway draw / !giveaway cancel. All of these can also be run from the Engagement tab.
!pointsand!top: their points and the leaderboard!give name 100: give points to someone!rewardsand!redeem name: spend points on the rewards you set up!plinko 100: drop a ball worth 100 points!bet 100 red: put chips on the roulette wheel (spins every 30-60 seconds)!flip 100 heads: coin flip!soundsand!sound name: play a sound alert on your stream with points!vote 2(or just2): vote in a poll!predict 1 500: bet 500 points on outcome 1 of a prediction!join: enter a giveaway!tts hello chat: have a message read out on stream (costs points)!commands: everything else you've added
⚠️ What doesn't work yet
WMXbot was first built to run on one streamer's own PC. Most of it now runs online for everyone, but a few parts still need that PC version:
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Clip editor works, slow | Upload your own videos on the Clips tab and edit them: captions (auto-captions too), text, logo, chat replay, vertical formats. Limits on the server: up to 500 MB a video and 2 GB in total. Uploaded clips and everything exported from them are deleted 24 hours after upload, so download what you want to keep. Exports and auto-captions run one at a time on a shared server, so they're slow (a minute of video can take several minutes). |
| Clips from your stream not yet | !clip and auto-clips need to record your stream's video, which uses too much
server bandwidth for now. Use the PC version of WMXbot for these, or upload a recording to the clip editor. |
| Effects not yet | Viewer effects (filters and voice changers) and face stickers (Santa hat and friends) control OBS on your own PC, which a website can't reach. The tab says "PC version only". |
| Raid alerts not yet | Kick doesn't send raids to apps yet, so raid alerts and raid shoutouts won't trigger. Follows, subs, gifts and KICKs all work. |
| Helpers / mods on your dashboard not yet | Only you can open your dashboard. If a mod logs in, they get a bot for their own channel, not access to yours. |
| Shoutout cards mostly | !so always works in chat. The card with the channel's picture sometimes can't load it, because Kick may block the lookup from servers. |
| Settings tab mostly | A few notes there talk about files on a PC (like .env or config.yaml). Ignore those; everything you change on the dashboard is saved for you. |
| Everything else works | Chat commands, moderation, timers, follow/sub/gift/KICKs alerts, widgets, Live control (volume, stop, hold), loyalty points, rewards, games, polls, predictions, giveaways, text-to-speech, sound alerts, uploads, reports and the desktop simulator. |
This is a trial: things may change, and the occasional hiccup is likely. Tell us what breaks and what you'd like next.
Your account & data
- Stay logged in: you stay logged in while you use the dashboard (a login ends after 30 days without a visit).
- Log out or delete: click 👤 Account at the bottom of the menu on the left. Disconnect and delete my data stops your bot, cancels WMXbot's access to your Kick account and permanently deletes your settings, points, uploads and history.
- What's stored: your Kick login (encrypted), your dashboard settings and uploads, and your viewers' points and stream history so the bot
can work. To improve WMXbot we also count which dashboard tabs and features get used and which commands viewers type (just the command
word, like
points), never chat messages or viewer names. - Each streamer's data is kept separately; nobody else can see yours.
Something not working?
- The bot doesn't answer in chat: check you typed
/mod WMXBot, and that the command is spelled the way it is on your Chat → Commands tab. Some features only run while you're live (you can change that in their settings). - An overlay is blank in OBS: copy its link again from the dashboard (old links stop working if a new one was made), and check the Browser source size.
- "Please log in again" or "This page is out of date": reload the page, or log in again at wmxbot.com.
